We are grateful to partner with Lahaina Community Land Trust whom uses donated and special funding to prevent Lahaina 2023 wildfire victims from being forced to sell their land.
The LCLT is a leading organization on Maui island focused on preventing post-disaster displacement and erasure of culture.
This organization was birthed in the wake of the 2023 Lahaina wildfires when the founders saw a need for a private entity to step up and help the community hold on to their land while circumstances did not allow rebuilding yet and outside buyers were trying to purchase the land.
Through government and donated funds LCLT has already saved 23 properties from being sold ad foreclosure by offering grants and other support to owners to keep their land and rebuild on it or even purchase land that is resold only to local residents.
If an owner collaborates with LCLT they agree to terms that prevent the resell of that property in the near future to outside buyers and a regulation of sales price that benefit the community when the transfer of land occurs.
